Grand Cayman, just about an hour long flight from Miami, is the largest of the three islands that make up the Cayman Islands, a British-owned territory where millions of tourists descend each year for a relaxing and fun-filled vacation getaway.
Things To Do In Grand Cayman
The capital city of this sandbox in the middle of the Caribbean is George Town, located in what some call the southwest knuckle of Grand Cayman. With a population of just over 20,000 people, George Town is the largest city among the three islands.
One of the top attractions in Grand Cayman is Seven Mile Beach, one of the finest beaches in the entire world, located on the west coast north of George Town. Known for it’s powder soft sand and breathtaking scenery, Seven Mile Beach is a must on your to-do list when visiting the Cayman Islands.
There are also many great restaurants, night clubs and hotels/resorts on the west side of the island headed down to George Town. If you are looking for more variety of restaurants that specialize in the Caymanian cuisine, head over to the eastern side of the island to be wowed with a more local flare of restaurant.
Watersports such as snorkeling and scuba diving are some of the most popular things to do on Grand Cayman as the island is famous for its coral reefs, underwater sea walls, along with a number of shipwrecks that you can explore under the sea. If you are interested in staying above the water, there are also a number of natural attractions; the blow holes located in the East End district, the Mastic Trail that runs through the center of the island, Hell (not the real one) in the West Bay and the stunning Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park.
No matter what you decide, your trip to Grand Cayman can be as busy or as relaxing as you desire. Take in all the sites and attractions, or enjoy the beautiful landscapes, sunny weather and just lounge on the beach. The choice is yours; either way, it’s a trip you won’t soon forget!
